Why Hangllo

Making friends after college is weirdly hard.

No classroom, no hostel corridor, no group that forms on its own. And most apps for meeting people want your best photo before you’ve said a word. We flip it: talk first, faces later.

Your photo goes out to everyone who swipes.

You start as an avatar. Your photos go only to the people you pick.

Hundreds of messages, or none at all.

A chat opens only when you both say yes.

Group chats of fifty where three people talk.

Groups of six, where everyone’s heard.

Meet a stranger after a few texts.

Talk for days. Meet when you’re ready.

How it works

Say you’ve just moved to Bangalore.

Here’s how your first two weeks could go. Every step is optional.

  1. Day 1 · 8:40 pm

    You post an invite.

“Coffee walk in Cubbon Park?” It’s live for 30 minutes to people in your city. They see your avatar and first name. No bio to perfect.

Your live invite, with open invites from people nearby
  2. Day 1 · 8:52 pm

Rohan says yes. You get 15 minutes.

He’s around Indiranagar and plays badminton too. When time’s up, you add him as a friend. He accepts, so the chat stays.

A one-to-one chat with the minutes left shown under the name
  3. Day 3

You join a group of six.

Weekday badminton, all beginners. It’s online, so for now you just chat: courts, timings, bad jokes. The host approved everyone, you included.

A group chat called Weekday badminton, beginners, with 6 of 6 members
  4. Day 12

The group makes a plan. You meet.

Saturday, 6:30 pm, Indiranagar Sports Club, ₹200 each. The place, time and cost are clear before anyone says yes.

Groups

Big groups have an audience. Six has friends.

Every group on Hangllo holds up to six people. Small enough that everyone talks, big enough that someone’s always around.

Everyone’s in the conversation

Six people can actually get to know each other. Nobody’s a silent member.

The host picks who joins

So a group can be exactly what it says. Five women new to Pune who want a weekend crew. Founders who want honest feedback.

Nobody has to meet on day one

Talk for a week or a month. Meet when the whole group is ready.

Groups and events

Talk in a group. Meet at an event.

Groups are virtual. Events are the real meetups. You move from one to the other when you’re ready.

  1. Day 1

    Join a group

Pick one around something you love. The host lets you in.

  2. This week

    Get comfortable

Chat every day as an avatar and a first name.

  3. When it feels right

    Make a plan

Someone suggests a game, a coffee or a trek. It becomes an event.

  4. Event day

    Meet in person

Everyone knows the place, the time and the cost before saying yes.

Only if you’re dating

Here to date? Keep it clear.

Most people come to Hangllo for friends. If you want to date, pick Find a Date when you post an invite. When it turns into something, a heart shows where you stand.

You both agree to it, it’s with one person, and Find a Date pauses while you have one.

Safety and privacy

You decide who sees you.
